When we built our current home in 1984, we were
only the third house in our subdivision of 28 wooded
lots. Because the subdivision developed very slowly, it wasn’t
until about eight years ago that we began to feel that we were
living in the “city” rather than in a private, wooded setting as
it was in 1984.
Adra has a dream of raising llamas and I just
enjoy being in the wide-open countryside. To pursue our dreams
and desires, we started searching for property on the outskirts
of Edmond, Oklahoma. After a couple of years, we found the
perfect land just 11 miles northeast of our current home. It’s
in the country with a breath-taking view, but only minutes away
from all the conveniences of the city.
Our first thought was to just build a weekend
cottage. While traveling for several years through Tennessee and
North Carolina to visit our daughters in college, we began
noticing log home distributors and were intrigued by the idea of
this type of home. After several years of research and
planning, we decided to make the weekend “cabin” idea into a
permanent residence. Our travels exposed us to
many types of log structures to consider. After several false
starts with other companies, Adra and I selected Suwannee River
Log Homes. We are excited to finally have our dream becoming a
reality and look forward to the day that we get to move into our
custom-designed, cypress log home. Our family and friends are
very excited that this venture is finally underway as they have
all been patiently listening to us dream for the past 8 years! |
